It’s About Time…
Louisiana’s Assistive Technology (AT) Framework has remained unchanged since 2005, and the parishes still rely on this outdated version. Due to the persistent challenges and demands faced by AT specialists and special education coordinators, AEM has decided to take the lead in updating the framework. Recognizing the need for a fresh approach, a dedicated committee comprising stakeholders and representatives from various parishes across Louisiana now convenes biweekly to review and refine each document slated for inclusion in the updated Framework. Justin Sims, an AT Specialist at AEM, conducts thorough research and subsequently crafts a preliminary document. Once his draft is ready, the committee comes together to ensure that it aligns with the current needs and practices within Louisiana’s education system. They collectively contribute edits and corrections to create a more effective and up-to-date AT Framework that will better serve students and educators statewide. It is a whole new replacement.
