The purpose of this online module is to build awareness and understanding of assistive technology (AT) consideration. This course can be completed in your own time.  Participants will earn 12 Continuing Education Units (CLUs) upon completing the course.

What Will I Learn?

  • The AT Consideration online module provides a well-rounded foundation of basic assistive technology and consideration information. This course will highlight skills that teachers and education professionals require to meet the needs of students with disabilities.

Topics for this course


Overview of AT Laws and District Policy and Procedures?

The participants will: Be knowledgeable of current laws surrounding AT. Be knowledgeable about their own district AT policy and procedures. Know how to contact their district’s AT Facilitator.

AT Consideration?

The participants will: Have a clear understanding of what AT considerations is and what it is not. Utilize the quality indicators for consideration when making decisions.

What AT to Consider- Examples of AT?

The participants will: be familiar with various types of AT devices and services

AT Consideration Checklist?

The participants will: complete the IEP Consideration Checklist for a student determine the needs of the child from the outcome of the Consideration form
